Wrap Up of FootballDocs Bench / Start

It's Tuesday, and that means it is time to face the music and/or toot our horn as we do a wrap-up on our advice--both good and bad.  In fact, every wrap-up is kept and posted below as a permanent public record of what we called and how good or bad the calls were.  Why?

Three reasons:

1.  Accountability.
2.  Confidence in our analysis and recommendations.
3.  Because the Docs take winning every bit as seriously as you do.

Thank you for visiting and welcome to FootballDocs Fantasy Football--"Where the geeks meet the gridiron."

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 13
BENCH/START WRAP-UP

December 02, 2003

Sometimes you get the coal mine, and other times you get the shaft.   We had several picks give us the shaft this week.   While we didn't have our usual success this week, we are still going to give you the rundown.   Join us as we take a look back at our week 13 Bench / Start calls.   Hey, at least we had Domanick Davis and TJ Duckett on our side.

Nostradamus (a.k.a. psychic)
Start:
Domanick Davis - Davis rebounded from a couple of down weeks with a very nice start this past week against the Falcons.   101 rushing yards, 27 yards receiving and 2 TDs are a great game from the ROY candidate.

T.J. Duckett - Despite the fact that the Falcons' O-line couldn't block their way out of a paper sack, Duckett still managed to post a solid game.   55 total yards and a TD just sqeak him into the good calls of the week.   Granted, we would have liked to see a little more out of the big man, but he still gave a good effort.

Marshall Faulk - This call was for those of you out there with lots of RB options.   If you started Faulk, you were WELL rewarded.   143 total yards and 3 TDs were reminiscent of the "Marshall, Marshall, Marshall" of old.   Those teams that were able to withstand all of Faulk's injuries, and still make the playoffs will be very dangerous with Faulk back n track.

Clinton Portis - This was a call for those teams that have been getting fed up with Portis' lack of TDs.   Portis quickly jumped on everyone's good list with his 2 TDs, a two-point conversion, and 177 total yards.   It was an outstanding game from an outstanding player.

Bench:
Garrison Hearst - Hearst and the whole 49ers team was shut down by the Ravens smothering D.

Troy Hambrick - 7 total yards and you are sure glad you didn't give this stiff the rock.

Farmer's Almanac (a.k.a. not so bad/not so good)
Start:
Eddie George - George had a decent game, but wasn't able to punch one in against the typically soft Jets run D.   This performance lands George in the so-so calls of the week.

Trent Green - The fact that the Chiefs decided to make it the Priest Holmes ground game really hurt Green this week.   If only a few more of those yards would have been in the air (or more of those Holmes TDs), Green would have had an outstanding day.   As it stands, Green gave a pedestrian effort.   It wasn't too bad, but it was just a hair shy of where we like our QBs to be.

Bench:
Brian Westbrook - No TDs for Westbrook, but he did grab enough yards to be a so-so call of the week.

Weather Forecast (a.k.a. oops better luck next time)
Start:
Eddie Kennison - Kennison didn't live up to our billing this week.   If you gave Kennison the start, you weren't pleased with his output.

Andre Johnson - The injured David Carr had to come in for the injured Tony Banks.   Add that up and you get very few passing yards by the Texans.   This really hurt Johnson's chances for a good game.

Ashley Lelie - Lelie did catch a ball, but it wasn't for positive yardage.   Looks like we dropped the ball on this one.

Bench:
Derrick Mason - Surprise! McNair threw us for a loop by actually playing.   While he didn't get the win he was able to give Mason enough yards and a TD for a great game.

Darrell Jackson, Jimmy Smith - These two WRs look into the face of good pass defenses and throw up good games.

Amani Toomer - We had Toomer nailed for a sub-par game … that is until the Bills let down for one play and let Toomer snag a 77 yard bomb.   77 yards and a TD makes for a good WR game all by itself.   Other than that catch he only had 2 catches for minimal yardage.
