FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 12
BENCH/START WRAP-UP
November 25, 2003
This week we saw some great performances from players that have been up and
down this year. Eddie George, Kevin Faulk, and Jon Kitna lead the charge
for that group of players. Troy Hambrick was a bust this past week against
the Carolina Panthers as expected. All in all, a solid week for the Bench
/ Start. Belly up to the table for a Pre-Thanksgiving appetizer of the Bench
/Start Week 12 review.
Nostradamus (a.k.a. psychic)
Start:
Eddie George - George received a huge booster shot in the arm from the good ole Falcons. With 115 yards rushing and 7 yards receiving he had a incredible game. And yes, he had a TD on top of that for good measure. After the sad season George owners have had to endure, this was a welcome surprise.
Moe Williams - Williams sneaks into the good calls this week in reception leagues. His 6 receptions were a sight for the sore eyes of Williams' owners. News flash for this Kentucky RB, Michael Bennett is starting to cut loose!
Kevin Faulk - Wow! Faulk had one heck of a game. His 8 receptions and nearly 190 yards of total offense made for a fantastic game. This player is a sneaky one you'll want to keep your eyes on in those reception leagues. This good game was in sharp contrast to his past couple of sub-par games.
Jon Kitna - Kitna can be an up and down player, but, as we expected, he had a huge up week this week. No interceptions, 243 passing yards and 4 TDs! Not too shabby. Just for kicks Kitna added a few rushing yards as well to make his fumble not hurt quiet as bad.
Fred Taylor - Fumbles all around. Taylor managed a great day despite his fumble. He carried the Rock 32 times this past weekend for 119 yards. Apparently his knees are OK. However, if you are a Taylor owner, you probably aren't sleeping well at night when you are thinking about your playoff run.
Bench:
Troy Hambrick - 26 total yards and no TDs makes for a pretty sad day for Mr. Hambrick. This early season sleeper looks like he is trying to pull a sleeping beauty for the rest of this year. Apparently Dallas doesn't need him either. They are tied for the best record in the NFC and they and Hambrick hasn't contributed for weeks.
Dez White - White was coming off of a good game week 11, but, as expected, he wasn't able to build on that success. Despite his team winning, White only had 1 reception for 15 yards.
T.J. Duckett - Very seldom does a player score a TD and make the correct call on the Bench list. Duckett obtained that dubious honor for week 12 by only having 8 yards rushing and a TD. That isn't exactly a no show, but he wasn't anyone you would want to start in most leagues.
Farmer's Almanac (a.k.a. not so bad/not so good)
Start:
Derrick Mason - Mason let us down this week against the pathetic Falcons. No doubt, McNair getting hurt in this one really impeded Mason's ability to throw up the big game. Mason's 4 receptions for reasonable yardage salvaged him for a complete bust, but we are still disappointed in the big fella.
Deion Branch - Nothing spectacular form Mr. Branch, but his 5 receptions were an added bonus in reception leagues. If only he could have scored, we would be able to bump him up to the good calls of the week.
Bench:
Ike Hilliard - Hilliard did manage 4 receptions and 43 yards, so we will drop him in the so-so group of call of the week. He managed some value in reception leagues, but most of you were probably glad that you didn't start Hilliard.
Weather Forecast (a.k.a. oops better luck next time)
Start:
Kelly Holcomb - No way around this one. After coming out last week like a house of fire, Holcomb let us down with 2 interceptions and NO TDs. Just avoid Cleveland. They are in the lead for schizophrenic team of the year honors.
Bench:
Darrell Jackson - At least we did say that Jackson was one of our favorite WRs??? Sometimes you are wrong and other times you are REALLY wrong. Jackson Exploded against the usually stout Ravens D.
Trung Canidate - Canidate stuck it to us by managing to stick his nose into the end zone.
Arizona Cardinals RB - Shipp sunk our ship by racking up nearly 100 yards of total offense. He didn't score, but his yardage can't be denied. This one was one that just got away.
