Wrap Up of FootballDocs Bench / Start

It's Tuesday, and that means it is time to face the music and/or toot our horn as we do a wrap-up on our advice--both good and bad.  In fact, every wrap-up is kept and posted below as a permanent public record of what we called and how good or bad the calls were.  Why?

Three reasons:

1.  Accountability.
2.  Confidence in our analysis and recommendations.
3.  Because the Docs take winning every bit as seriously as you do.

Thank you for visiting and welcome to FootballDocs Fantasy Football--"Where the geeks meet the gridiron."

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 11
BENCH/START WRAP-UP

November 18, 2003

This week we saw some great performances from players that have been up and down this year.   Trent Green and Edgerrin James were the leaders in that category.   Other players were coming off great week 10 performances and we expected them to suffer a setback week 11.   Doug Flutie and Byron Leftwich were players who followed that trend.   All in all, a solid week for the Bench / Start.   Join us as we look back at our results.

Nostradamus (a.k.a. psychic)
Start:
Trent Green - While his team didn't win, Green was still able to post solid fantasy numbers.   313 yards passing and two TDs with no INTs is a great week for any fantasy QB.

Edgerrin James - James has been a disappointment almost all year, but we told you things would be different this week against the weak Jets run D.   If you gave the call to the Edge you weren't disappointed.   James ripped off 160 yards of total offense and 3 TDs.   A great game in any scoring format.

Marc Bulger - The Rams had some trouble dispatching the helpless Bears, but they did end up with the win.   Bulger bounced back nicely this week with 240 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs.   Bulger's numbers seem to be down now that Marshall Faulk is back.   Keep an eye on this, but at this point Bulger should still be capable of providing some good games.

Moe Williams - Williams had a good game this week totaling over 100 yards in total offense and adding 6 receptions.   The speculation about Bennett taking over will have to wait a few more weeks.   The important thing to keep in mind for this team is that Culpepper is the REAL touchdown vulture on this team.

Marshall Faulk - Are the Rams better off without Faulk?   They did struggle against the sorry Bears team.   Holt and Bruce owners may think so, but Faulk owners are just fine with the way things are.   Faulk rack up 103 rushing yards and 21 yards receiving on 3 catches.

Bench:
Byron Leftwich - Week 10 Leftwich was throwing the ball out of the building.   We warned you that this week he would be making a 180 against the stout Titans.   With only 151 yards passing and no TDs, it was a bad day for teams that went with the rookie.   Leftwich didn't disappoint our prediction on INTs either with 2.

Rock Cartwright - The Rock was a hot waiver pick last week, but we told you to stash "The Rock" on your bench.   If you did so, you were satisfied with the result.   Cartwright only managed 58 yards of offense.

Quincy Carter - We predicted that there would be some confusion created for Carter by the Patriots D.   That is exactly what happened.   Carter threw three interceptions while he watched his team get shutout for the second time this season.

Corey Bradford - Week 10 Bradford had 73 yards and a TD.   This week he followed that with 1 reception for 7 yards.

Doug Flutie - Jumping from the Flutie bandwagon was the correct move this week.   Week 10 gave many owners hope that there could be something there with Flutie when he put up one of the better QB performances of the year.   He followed that great game up with a poor performance in week 11.   Only 70 yards passing, 11 yards rushing, 1 Td, a 2pt conversion, and FOUR turnovers!!   U - G - L - Y.

Farmer's Almanac (a.k.a. not so bad/not so good)
Start:
Aaron Brooks - Brooks wasn't outstanding, but he was serviceable this week.   If he could have avoided his two interceptions, he would have been much better.   The bright spot for Brooks is that he made some things happen with his legs.

Bench:
Anquan Boldin - Boldin didn't find the end zone this week, but he did collect some nice yardage numbers.

Weather Forecast (a.k.a. oops better luck next time)
Start:
Joe Horn - The Falcons continued to play carryover good D from last week against the Giants for another half.   After that, they let the Saints come back to win with 20 unanswered points.   Horn was a disappointment this week and was clearly hampered by his nagging injuries.

Eric Moulds - We said it had been about 5 weeks since Moulds owners have seen a good game.   Let's make it six.   Moulds didn't play this week as we thought he would.

Tai Streets - Apparently, Rattay didn't feel the need to throw to Streets on Monday night.   The only pass thrown Streets' way was in the third quarter.

Bench:
Antowain Smith - Smith wasn't very impressive with his yardage or his receptions, but he did manage a TD.   In fantasy football, a TD can always salvage a poor performance.

Jerome Bettis - The Bus had an ugly game minus his TD.   Again, the all-important TD can make or break any prediction.   This time it broke ours.
