Wrap Up of FootballDocs Bench / Start

It's Tuesday, and that means it is time to face the music and/or toot our horn as we do a wrap-up on our advice--both good and bad.  In fact, every wrap-up is kept and posted below as a permanent public record of what we called and how good or bad the calls were.  Why?

Three reasons:

1.  Accountability.
2.  Confidence in our analysis and recommendations.
3.  Because the Docs take winning every bit as seriously as you do.

Thank you for visiting and welcome to FootballDocs Fantasy Football--"Where the geeks meet the gridiron."

FANTASY FOOTBALL WEEK 10
BENCH/START WRAP-UP

November 11, 2003

Sometimes these things just happen!   You know; everything that makes sense suddenly doesn't make sense.   That's kind of what happened this past weekend.   We aren't sure, but we think the lunar eclipse had something to do with it.   Whatever the cause, the Falcons, Jags, Lions, and Chargers all WON.   When that happens, a lot of fantasy fortunes get turned upside-down.   Join us as we look back at our "lacking something to be desired" results from the week 10 bench / start.

Nostradamus (a.k.a. psychic)
Start:
John Kasay -   It is a sad week when your stud is a Kicker, but here he is.   With 3 PATs and two 45+ field goals, Kasay was a great start at your kicker position.   Kasay was a real difference maker in this crucial NFC south game.   Could the Bucs actually miss the playoffs??

Tiki Barber - We would love nothing more than to throw Barber's fumbling butt into the busts of the week, but he managed to rush for 120 yards and catch 38 yards on a whopping 10 receptions.   In the end, Barber had a solid fantasy week, but Giants fans know he is in the doghouse right now in the "real" football world.

Jon Kitna - Kitna's INT hurt him this week, but he did manage a TD.   While his passing yards were a little shy of what you would like to see as a fantasy owner, he did manage to rack up 23 yards rushing.   All in all not the super type of game we were hoping for, but still good enough to land in the startable players of the week.

Bench:
Brian Griese - We certainly nailed this one. We told you that the "Titans are ferocious at home and should have no trouble giving Griese fits." We were correct on both counts.   The Titans embarrassed the Dolphins and gave Griese a NEGATIVE fantasy performance in most scoring systems with his 5 turnovers.

Peerless Price - Despite the Falcons actually winning, Price could only manage 37 yards and no TDs.   Price was a guy you were happy to have on your pine this week.

Tim Brown - Brown was another under performing WR.   If you left this aging player on your bench, you were rewarded.

Terry Glenn - Glenn has been very hot leading up to this past week's performance.   We told you he was in for a cool down and we were right.   One catch for 19 yards is all he could manage.

Farmer's Almanac (a.k.a. not so bad/not so good)
Start:
Anthony Thomas - They tried to feed Thomas the ball, but he just wasn't able to turn those attempts into solid yardage or a TD.   As a result, Thomas ends up in our so-so picks of the week.

Curtis Martin - Martin got the carries, but Jordan got the TD.   If only Martin could have racked up a TD for us, he would have made the good start list.   As is, you weren't disappointed, but you weren't ecstatic about him either.

Bench:
Koren Robinson - Robinson didn't score but he would have been a so-so start because of his yardage.

Weather Forecast (a.k.a. oops better luck next time)
Start:
Kerry Collins - Sad, sad, sad.   That just about sums up the entire Giants team.   The Falcons came in and played a decent game, and the Giants gave them plenty of help.   Collins personally contributed 2 INTs and quite honestly was very lucky to not have ended up with 4 INTs.   While Collins performance of 202 yards wasn't the worst ever, you were probably pretty disappointed if you started him and his inability to score a TD.

New York Giants Defense - Like we said, when the Falcons win out of no where, you are going to get burned.   The Giants only managed a blocked PAT and a sack.   While watching this game, it was amazing to see how the G-men made the Falcons look like a decent team with a back-up Tackle and a third string QB?

Kyle Boller - Boller is probably out for the year.   He wasn't able to gather up enough fantasy points before going out to rank as a starter.

Cincinnati Bengals Defense - The Bungles did get the win, but they let Houston have too many points without enough big plays to counter.   The end result is a bench-worthy D. (They did however do better than the Giants!)

Bench:
Eddie George - George only had 43 yards rushing, but he had to go and ruin our prediction with a 2 yard TD.   George would have been a reasonable start.

Johnnie Morton - Morton snagged the all important TD (in the fantasy world), so he would have been a decent start.

James Jackson - Somehow Jackson managed to score a short TD plunge that kept him in the realm of a good start.
