NFL Week 3: "Ask the Docs" Replies

Friday, September 20, 2013

You've got questions and we're here to dish out answers. Lot of great questions this week ranging from trade offers to starting decisions to wavier advice. We decided to go the Social Media route this week, so if you dropped us a question on our Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ pages, you got an answer! For the rest of you, we've compiled the questions and our responses to try to help the masses as well. Many of our replies will have components that are directly applicable to components on your team, so without further ado, let's get to it:

Which WR would you recommend to start at FLEX: Brain Hartline (MIA) vs. ATL, Mike Williams (TAM) @ NE, or Leonard Hankerson (WAS) vs. DET? I'm stuck, help!
- CAP

Docs: Hi CAP, we lean to Hartline and his 23 targets in 2 games. We trust Tannehill more than Freeman, and Hankerson has a pulled groin.

RB Joique Bell (DET) or RB Giovanni Bernard (CIN) this week?
- Jimmy

Docs: Hi Jimmy, slight edge to Bernard, whose role is growing in CIN. Great match-up for DET, but a load of RBs there w/ or w/o Bush.

Who should I pick up? WR Greg Jennings (MIN) or WR Justin Blackmon (JAX)?
- Andeee

Docs: Hi Andeee, go with Blackmon. He'll be back in week 5 and has much better upside than an aging Jennings on a run-first team.

I have both HOU WRs Andre Johnson & DeAndre Hopkins - should I start them both?
- Tal

Docs: Hi Tal, hard to say w/o knowing all WR options, but both are big talents. Being on same team no problem here.

Should I start RB DeAngelo Williams (CAR) or RB Darren Sproles (NOR)?
- N.I.K.

Docs: Hi N.I.K., we go with Sproles. New Orleans is explosive and Sproles is healthy and getting it done. Ingram's bad toe helps too.

Should I add/drop JAX WR Cecil Shorts for NE WR Aaron Dobson?
- Carlos

Docs: Hi Carlos, Dobson has issues, but a WR in N.E. will emerge. Shorts is safer, so keep if WR thin, else, take a chance with Dobson.

Got offered WR Andre Johnson (HOU) and RB Giovanni Bernard (CIN) for RB Trent Richardson (IND) and TE Orange Julius (Julius Thomas, DEN). I have TE Jimmy Graham (NOR).
- Matt

Docs: Hi Matt, don't do it. Already have a stud TE, and Johnson's age and health a concern. Also, upside with T-Rich too good.

So, point-per-reception (PPR) league, and I was offered Graham (TE NOR) / Gore (RB SF) / Hopkins (WR HOU) for Morris (RB WAS) / Cook (TE STL) / Edelman (WR NE). Yes or no?
- Josh

Docs: Hi Josh, that's a "YES!" for a PPR league in favor of Graham/Gore/Hopkins. Gore will come around & Hopkins is a rising star.

Even knowing that QB Brandon Weeden's (CLE) out, would you consider starting TE Justin Cameron (CLE) over Tony Gonzalez (ATL)?
- Jennifer

Docs: Hi Jennifer, we go with Gonzalez even if Weeden were perfectly healthy and ready to go. It's going to be ugly in CLE without Trent Richardson, who held opposing defenses in check on the pass. Plus, Gonzalez has a great match-up for TEs facing the Phins.

That's a wrap this week. Great interacting with everyone and good luck to everyone's teams this week. If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our FootballDocs' Social Media pages and send us your fantasy football question: Google+, Facebook, and Twitter.
