NFL Week 16: "Ask the Docs" Replies

Friday, December 20, 2013

You've got questions and we're here to dish out answers. Lot of great questions this week ranging from trade offers to starting decisions to wavier advice. We decided to go the Social Media route this year, so if you dropped us a question on our Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ pages, odds are good you got an answer! For the rest of you, we've compiled the questions and our responses to try to help the masses as well. Many of our replies will have components that are directly applicable to components on your team, so without further ado, let's get to it:

I need to pick one QB ( Philip Rivers, Cam Newton , Kirk Cousins) and one WR (Andre Caldwell , Brian Hartline , Steve Smith, Cordarrelle Patterson)
- David on Google+

Docs: Those are some seriously good QB options. However, this week the nod goes to Cousins. The Cowboys are floundering and Cousins is hot. At WR, we like Cordarrelle Patterson. Patterson has scored a TD in each of his last 3 games and the team is using him as a threat running the ball as well as getting receptions.

Need help at QB - should I start Big Ben, Cousins or Fitzpatrick over Brees. For WR3 - Torrey Smith or Michael Crabtree. My defenses are Panthers or Titans but the Rams are also available on the waiver wire. What are my best options to win this week?
- Mark on Facebook

Docs: We are beating the Cousins bandwagon this week. Cousins has continued to perform when given the opportunity. This week he gets the self-consuming Cowboys. (The Cowboys don't choke all the time, but when they do they like to - - Oh, who are we kidding, The Cowboys love to Choke.) This said!!!! You have to start Brees. Right now Brees is a fantasy superman and you don't tug on Superman's cape. At WR, we would start Torrey Smith. The Ravens are starting to believe. Late last season the team needed an extra spark to make the Super Bowl possible. Smith provided that spark. He is the guy you want in there this week. At Defense, we would start the Rams. The Panthers got steam rolled by the Saints last time they played.

What RB should I start Lacy vs Steelers or Moreno at Texans?
- Chad on Facebook

Docs: Lacy hands down. That is a great matchup and the Packers are starting to play well.

Should I start Brady verse Baltimore or Kirk Cousins verse an awful Dallas defense?
- Nathan on Facebook

Docs: Cousins. We are on the Cousins bandwagon this week.

I'm heading to the championship game again and really need some help this week. My concern lies on who to start for my 2nd RB, who for my Flex (rb/wr) position, te and def. My choices for RB and Flex are Shane Vereen, Dennis Johnson, Deangelo Williams, Pierre Thomas and Brian Hartline. Choices for TE are Martellus Bennett or Dennis Pitta. Choices for Def are Chiefs, Bengals or Lions. Please help me win another championship.
- Greg on Facebook

Docs: Your 2nd RB and your Flex are Dennis Johnson and Deangelo Williams. The Texans are all out of other rushing options and Williams has been playing really well lately. Martellus Bennett is your TE choice this week. The Lions are a great option this week at defense.

I've got Reggie Bush, Zac Stacy, and Eddie Lacy, but can only start two. Who should it be?
- TJ on Facebook

Docs: Lacy and Stacy are the best choices this week. Bush could be good this week, but his durability makes him a little too risky this week based on your other options.

Amendola or Colston as WR3? Bobby Rainey or Todman (if MJD is out that is) as RB?
- Himanshu

Docs: Colston and Todman

The championship is on the line. Who do I start at my flex? PPR league. Pick one. Bobby Rainey, Kendall Wright, or Julian Edelman.
- Michael on Facebook

Docs: Edelman is the pick in a PPR based on how well he has been playing and how many looks he has been getting.

In league championship. Pick 3 (2 WR & 1 Flex) Andre Brown, Colston, Boykins, Edelman, Cooper, Torrey Smith & Fred Jackson.
- John W. on Twitter

Docs: Brown, Colston, Edelman in a PPR. Good Luck.

Agonizing over whether to start Brees on the road against Carolina or Cutler against Philly
- Nancy N. on Twitter

Docs: Brees has been great all year in almost every game. You need to trust him.

Start newton or roethlisberger (I have Antonio brown)? And start Andre brown, S Ridley, Torrey smith or Doug Baldwin at flex?
- Nathan on Twitter

Docs: Cam Newton is your QB. Torrey Smith is your flex. Admittedly, he can be a little boom or bust, but the Ravens are smelling the postseason and he could be a big factor again.

That's a wrap this week. Great interacting with everyone and good luck to everyone's teams this week. If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our FootballDocs' Social Media pages and send us your fantasy football question: Google+, Facebook, and Twitter.
