NFL Week 14: "Ask the Docs" Replies
Friday, December 6, 2013
You've got questions and we're here to dish out answers. Lot of great questions this week ranging from trade offers to starting decisions to wavier advice.
We decided to go the Social Media route this year, so if you dropped us a question on our Twitter, Facebook, or Google+ pages, odds are good you got an answer! For the rest of you, we've compiled the questions
and our responses to try to help the masses as well. Many of our replies will have components that are directly applicable to components on your team, so without further ado, let's get to it:
Le'Veon Bell or Bobby Rainey this weekend?
- Mark on Facebook
This is a close call, but Le'Veon Bell is the choice. He has been playing well and he has a better matchup against the Dolphins.
Two RB and Flex to fill in PPR league (S. Jackson, Levon Bell, Shane Vereen, Bobby Rainey). Worried Bell gets bell rung again with quick exit but I've been playing him loyally all season. Like Bobby Rainey and cant ignore SJAX recent success, but this is the playoffs, gamble benching Bell?
- Bill M. on Facebook
Your 2 RBs are Le'Veon Bell and Bobby Rainey. As we stated before, Bell has a great matchup this weekend. Rainey has been effective lately. We agree about Steven Jackson being someone to consider. Jackson has been very good over the past couple of games. It looks like two things are starting to happen for Jackson. The first is that the Falcons offense is starting to get healthier as a whole. The second is that Jackson himself is starting to get healthy. If you drafted Jackson, you have suffered all season. Perhaps now he is ready to make a return on our investment. This week he is your 4th best option, but he could move up the charts should we get late breaking news on Bell. As of now, Bell was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
Hey docs I need 2 rb and 2 wr. And 1 flex wr/rb. It seems each week is a mystery on my players. It is a ppr league. M. Wallace, A. Johnson, A. Jeffrey, M. Floyd, and M. Crabtree . As for rb. I know McCoy is a must but also have D. Sproles and M. Ball. I am thinking flex should be a wr. Cheers Glen
- Glen on Google+
Andre Johnson (hopefully you started him last night), Alshon Jeffrey, and Michael Floyd (In a PPR, Floyd gets the call over your 3rd RB). LeSean McCoy is a must start for you in a PPR. Darren Sproles is your choice in a PPR league at RB2.
Hey guys, TE question: Jordan Cameron or Ladarius Green this week. Cameron gets looks but has not produced at all, but I've used him all year. Green is still on the free agent list right now and I'm tempted to grab him. What's your input? Thanks!
- Matt on Facebook
Cameron is a talent, but he needs better QB play. You would be best served with riding the hot hands of Green in Week 14.
HI FDs, I need 2 WRs and 1 Flex from the following for a Standard League. WRs: M. Floyd, T. Smith, A. Jeffery, R. Cooper, D. Jackson - For Flex I have the WRs plus Zac Stacy and Chris Johnson.
- Barbara on Facebook
Alshon Jeffrey has really been delivering on the preseason promise that made him one of our sleepers. With Brandon Marshall banged up, you have to look to Jeffrey again for a solid fantasy performance. Torrey Smith is a solid start. Since you are not in a PPR league, Smith's big play ability could provide big returns this week. At Flex in a non-PPR, you should go with Zac Stacy. His offensive line is in bad condition this week, but he could still get you a score against Arizona.
Hey guys, need win to make 4 team playoff.
Jay Cutler (if he's cleared) or Matt Ryan?
- Bill K. on Facebook
Even if Cutler was cleared, I would be wiser to stick with Ryan. Cutler's backup has been so effective that the team could turn away from Cutler very quickly. Ryan should have a decent week against the Packers.
Who should I start Zac Stacy, Leveon Bell, Rashad Jennings, MJD, or Demarco Murray. I have 3 slots
- Ronzel on Facebook
Ronzel, great stable of backs there. Start Murray, Bell, and Jennings.
After a 6-0 start I have gone 2-5 bouncing between griffin and rivers at QB. Second seed and a bye in the first round. Haven't been able to get 15 from a QB since. Please advise for weeks 15-16!
- Kevin on Facebook
You should start Griffin in Week 14 and 15 unless he gets some negative injury news. His ability to run has been making up for any shortcomings he has had in the pass. Griffin was terrible in Week 12 against the 49ers, but they are a much better defense than he will face in the next two weeks against KC and ATL. Last week, Griffin was back on against the Giants. He should remain hot for you over the next couple of weeks.
What 3 to start, ap, ivory, Alfred morris, zac stacy, or dmc, need 3. Also luck or Kaepernick, this determines playoffs, need serious help.
- Travis on Facebook
For 3 to start, go for Adrian Peterson, Alfred Morris, and Zac Stacy. DMC's health is still nagging him. Ivory has been pretty mediocre the past couple of weeks and he is struggling through some injuries. Neither Luck nor Kaepernick look that appealing this week, but Luck is the better option. Tough defensive matchups this week for both.
Who should i start nate burleson michael crabtree or marques colston?
- Dominic on Facebook
The Eagles secondary is very suspect, so you should look for Burleson to bounce back from his terrible Week 13.
Doug Baldwin or Harry Douglas as my WR/TE Flex? Rashad Jennings or Zac Stacy as my RB2? and Ryan Fitzpatrick or Chicago QB (I have both Cutler and McCown)? Thanks!
- Manuel on Google+
Harry Douglas as your WR/TE flex. Jennings is your RB2 and Fitzpatrick's matchup is too good to pass up.
Which qb should I start out of Romo, Ryan or Mccown ... Leaning towards Romo but Mccown is tempting considering Dallas has the worst pass def in the league and Mccown has been in fire ... Help please!!
- Joe on Google+
Romo against the Bears should be a productive fantasy game that you should take advantage of in Week 14. McCown will also post a good game, so the whole thing will be a shootout, but Romo is our choice.
Zac Stacy or Chris Ivory in non-ppr?
- Alex on Twitter
Stacy. Ivory has been struggling the past couple of weeks. It could be injuries slowing him down.
For my DST spot, start the Patriots or the Raiders for week 14, it is raiders @ jets or pats @ home vs browns
- Chris on Twitter
The Jets are a seriously tasty morsel for any fantasy defense, but the Patriots should be able to roll at home.
PPR & .5 per carry need 1 WR & Flex: Burleson, Boykin, Steve Smith, Don Brown, R. Jennings or J. Bell? Thx
- Chris on Twitter
Boykin and Rashad Jennings are your best starts. Boykin should light up the Falcons.
need some help start 3 of the following jordan cameron greg olsen dexter mccluster pierre thomas santonio holmes
- Matt on Twitter
Thomas (CAR easier than SEA), Jordan Cameron and his targets, Greg Olsen also makes the top 3 cut.
Should I start Shane Verren or LeSean McCoy? Please help I need this win to make the playoffs!
- Marty on Twitter
McCoy and good luck to your roster.
Best Start option 2RB 2WR 1FLX RBs Vereen,MJD,Woodhead,Sproles,PThomas WR Burelson,Boykin,Crabtree,JJones (BAL) Thx

Vereen, MJD, Sproles, Boykin, and Burleson
