NFL Week 1: "Ask the Docs" Replies

Friday, September 6, 2013

What a game last night! For those that have Peyton Manning on their roster, what a sweet start to the weekend. However, there is a lot more on tap before closing the books on week 1 of fantasy football, and we're ready to respond to your fantasy football questions. However, for "Ask the Docs" this week, we decided to mix it up a little. Rather than going the traditional email route for questions, we decide to go the Twitter route. So posted below are our collection of responses from those that dropped us a question on our FootballDocs Twitter account.

Week 1 flex advice needed: RB Lamar Miller (MIA) or WR DeSean Jackson (PHI)?
--John

Docs: Hi John, hard to not go with DeSean Jackson here. Good match-up, and let's see what Chip Kelly's offense can do.

What three RB's should I start this week? Stevan Ridley, Lamar Miller, Ahmad Bradshaw or Daryl Richardson?
--Alex

Docs: Hi Alex, we like Ridley, Bradshaw, and Miller, in that order. Pead's wk 1 suspension will help Richardson, but not enough.

Steve Smith or Sidney Rice? Seahawks D scares me.
--Tom

Docs: : Hi Tom, we go with Rice over Smith. We think Smith will struggle as explained in our Start / Sit column.

Reggie Wayne, Dwayne Bowe or Reggie Bush for week one flex?
--Brannon

Docs: Hi Brannon, assuming standard league scoring, at this point, we like Wayne, Bush, and Bowe, in that order for week one.

Redman, Bradshaw, and Ballard for one RB spot. Which one do I start of this bad situation?
--Gene

Docs: Hi Gene, we would go with Bradshaw here. Great match-up. Ballard will wear them down early, and Bradshaw should finish strong.

D. Amendola, D. Bowe or M. Colston for my 2nd receiver? Thanks!
--Jasper

Docs: Hi Jasper, go with Colston. No one in the NFC South plays defense, and NOR and ATL are going to light up the scoreboard.

D. Hopkins, R. Mendenhall, or K. Rudolph as a week one flex?! Thanks!
--Mark

Docs: Hi Mark, DeAndre Hopkins is cleared to play and will start. We lean to the rookie out of the crew you have listed.

PART 1: Have Steve Smith (CAR) and Greg Jennings (MIN) in a PPR league. Keep them or drop one and get DeAndre Hopkins (HOU)?
--Robert

Docs: Hi Robert, that's tough to say w/o seeing your full roster, but good to get some youth in there. Drop Jennings for Hopkins.

PART 2: Finally everyone else sayz no. I have Dez and Jordy N. and Josh Gordon.
--Robert

Docs: We'd still do it. Jennings is not going to have a big year, but Hopkins is an ex-factor for you on an explosive offense.

PART 1: 12 team ppr. Trade J. Graham for B. Marshall? I have Gronk. WR: A Johnson, C Givens, Michael Floyd, V Brown, R Broyles.
--Terry

Docs: Hi Terry, assuming you can't start 2 TEs, we'd do it and get Marshall, especially for a PPR league.

PART 2: I could start Gronk in the flex once he's back.
--Terry

Docs: Makes tougher, but we still go for Marshall. Be warned, Graham is probably going to explode in wk 1, but long haul, Marshall.

Tavon Austin or Hakeem Nicks in flex? (PPR league)
--Mike

Docs: Hi Mike, little too early to trust Austin just yet with Nicks ready to go. Good match up for Nicks too this week. Go Nicks.

That's a wrap this week. Great interacting with everyone and good luck to everyone's teams this week. If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our FootballDocs' Social Media pages: Google+, Facebook, and Twitter.
