Cheatsheets, player rankings, and overall
rankings become much more credible when player projections are provided with
them. Simply put, projections are predicted statistics of upcoming
NFL player performance in terms of yardage and touchdowns for the upcoming
season. Good projections are very difficult to make (and find), and
it opens a website to severe scrutiny when offering projections with rankings
(i.e. do projected QB TDs correspond to equivalent total team WR/TE/RB receiving
TDs? Do Kicker P.A.T. correspond to equivalent total team TDs?).
Thus, there is nice quality control built into rankings with projections as it is very easy to expose sloppy rankings (it forces a website to really think in-depth about their rankings). Most websites do not offer projections due to the time and effort involved to do correctly.
However, when available and done well, projections provide a comfort factor when looking at rankings and can be a powerful ally
during your fantasy football draft to help determine player value in your
particular fantasy football league scoring system.
