Fantasy Football Start Sit
FREE weekly fantasy football who to start & sit advice
Our weekly "Who to Start and Sit" column is part of FootballDocs In-season content. All of FootballDocs In-season content is 100% free.
After starting your studs (typically players ranked after week 5 in the top ~15 RBs, top ~ 10 WRs, top ~ 10 QBs, top ~3 TEs, top ~5
Defenses, and top...wait, no kicker is a fantasy football stud), the Docs will help you decide who to start and sit as we recommend
players in our fantasy football start sit column that are not clear studs and can step in with a big game for your team this week. Consequently, we will not
recommend who to start and sit with the top few players at each position in our weekly fantasy football start sit advice (given starts every week); however, we may occasionally recommend players ranked
15 - 25 overall due to some teams out there that will have multiple players at one position in this range but can only
start one. If we recommend such a player it does not mean we think they are not a stud, we are just trying to help those folks out there that may
be in such a situation. We also recommend players to bench, so our fantasy football start sit column is sometimes referred to as fantasy football start bench column. Additionally, we offer
Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings to help even further with some of those more difficult
start sit decisions. Last, be sure to check us out every Tuesday as we do a Wrap-up on our advice - both good
and bad. In fact, every wrap-up is kept and posted as a permanent, public record of what we called and how good or bad the calls were.
Why?
Three reasons:
1. Accountability.
2. Confidence in our analysis and recommendations.
3. Because the Docs take winning every bit as seriously as you do.

Give 'em the rock (a.k.a. Start)
Justin Forsett, RB, SEA - The Bucs have had trouble stopping the run all season. There are times Forsett looks like he is shot out of a cannon, and this is Forsett's chance to show what he can do against a very porous defense. While Julius Jones will still get touches, we expect the Hawks to lean on Forsett, who should rip a long run and/or TD before the game is done.
Jamaal Charles, RB, KC - We almost hate to jinx this guy, but he has been on fire. You have to start him at this point considering the fact that he is playing the Browns in week 15. Charles has an explosive first step and can take it to the house from anywhere on the field.
Steven Jackson, RB, STL - We know that Jackson was a huge disappointment last week. If you somehow managed to survive this terrible game, you should be rewarded this week with a great matchup for the Rams rushing attack. The Rams are going to give the overconfident Texans all they can handle. If you watched last week's Texans game, it was one of those scenarios where one team just gets off to a fast start and the opposition just can't match the intensity. This week Jackson's hard running could pay off in a surprise win.
Knowshon Moreno, RB, DEN - You've got a goal-line back facing a team that is second to none when it comes to surrendering rushing TDs. Nothing more really needs to be said here.
Donovan McNabb, QB, PHI - McNabb has lost some fantasy points to Michael Vick the past couple of games. However, this does not concern us when we are thinking about who to start in week 15. The Playoffs are on the line and you can count on McNabb to deliver. The 49ers defense had a great game last week thanks to all of the turnovers committed by the Cardinals. This bunch of Birds will do a much better job this weekend, and that means big things for your fantasy team.
Jason Campbell, QB, WAS - The Redskins' much maligned QB has been turning in some solid fantasy performances. If your team is in the playoffs, but you need to strike gold with a QB that you got off of waivers, Campbell could be your man. The Giants are playing very uninspired football right now, and they are having trouble rushing the passer. This Giants are very "un-Giant-like," and it is hard to figure out why.
Vince Young, QB, TEN - Young has been posting solid stats lately, and you should be taking note if you are a team that has to rotate QBs based on match-up. Miami has had difficulty slowing down opposing fantasy QBs. We have several other options ranked ahead of Young, but you could do worse if you are in a bind.
Brady Quinn, QB, CLE - Quinn rounds out the list of questionable QBs that could help your fantasy team in the playoffs. The Chiefs have allowed several QBs to have good games: Kyle Orton, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, and David Garrard. In his last four games played, Quinn has tossed 7 TDs vs. 0 INTs.
Mohamed Massaquoi, WR, CLE - We like Brady Quinn this week, and we like his #1 target. Massaquoi is in line for a big week against the Chiefs.
Steve Smith, WR, CAR - Steve Smith has introduced himself to the Panthers' starting QB. Last week we saw the beginnings of something with potential. If you need a spark, Smith is there for you in week 15.
Dwayne Bowe, WR, KC - Speaking of the Chiefs versus the Browns, Bowe is back from his suspension. We think he is going to come out of the gates hot. Take a chance on him in week 15.
Michael Crabtree, WR, SF - This rookie is playing at a very high level and he has started to gain the trust of his QB. The matchup is favorable in week 15 against the Eagles. Crabtree should have another impactful fantasy week.
Devone Bess, WR, MIA - Bess is a little banged up with a bum ankle, but we think it will have a minimal impact on his effectiveness in his match-up with the Titans this week. The Phins are in the hunt, and teams have been exploiting the Titans' secondary all year. Bess is going to factor heavily into the game plan, as Miami will need him to help take some heat off of Ricky Williams. While Bess only has 1 TD on the year, this week looks about as good as any for him to double that total.
Let 'em warm up the pine (a.k.a. Sit) Don't miss out on our FREE fantasy football weekly rankings to further help with your start / sit decisions! Weekly Rankings Released every Thursday!
Jay Cutler, QB, CHI - Cutler is facing Baltimore this week and that should spell lots of turnovers. The game will be played in Baltimore, and Cutler has turned the ball over at a record pace this season when he is on the road. Stay away from this inconsistent QB.
Chris Redman, QB, ATL - Redman put up a gallant fight and good numbers last week in an almost win over the Saints. However, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. This week Redman will be facing one of the best corners in the NFL. Look for "Mr. Stare Down" to have a bad fantasy game.
Eli Manning, QB, NYG - Manning has been feast or famine over the last 8 weeks. If you take a deeper look at Manning's numbers, he is essentially great at home and struggles on the road. This week he and the Giants get on the bus and head to D.C. Not only will Manning be on the road, but he will be facing one of the stingiest secondaries in all of football. Yes, Safety LaRon Landry has been exploited as of late, but that is not enough to warrant a start for Manning relative to the heap of other factors weighing against him.
Michael Jenkins, WR, ATL - Jenkins has been capitalizing from the injury to Roddy White. In Jenkins' last three games played, he has averaged over 4 receptions and 80 receiving yards per game. Those are decent numbers. Last week he even nailed a TD, pushing those decent numbers into a very good start. This week will be a different story. The Jets secondary is just plain scary. Period. They have arguably the two best cover-corners in the game, and the high draft picks they spent on them in recent drafts is paying huge dividends this year. One thing Jenkins does not have is a high top-end speed, and he will find very little room to operate in week 15.
Hines Ward, WR, PIT - The Steelers and Packers are two teams heading in opposite directions. After Tomlin claimed a couple of weeks earlier the Steelers would unleash hell in December, hell has been unleashed on them. Meanwhile, you have the Packers, who are one of the hottest teams in football. We wouldn't lean on Ward this week facing Charles Woodson and company. Odds say he has a better shot at disappointing than surprising in week 15.
Darren McFadden, RB, OAK - McFadden flashed a fantasy pulse last week as a receiver, but don't expect to see that pulse show up again two weeks in a row. No thanks to a crowded backfield, McFadden has had to carve a role out more as a WR as of late than a RB. Basically the Raiders are trying to get him out in open space to make plays. Now he faces a brutal Denver secondary, and he will have JaMarcus Russell tossing him the rock again. It just doesn't get much worse than that.
