FREE weekly fantasy football who to start & sit advice
Our weekly "Who to Start and Sit" column is part of FootballDocs In-season content. All of FootballDocs In-season content is 100% free and starts September 7, 2011.
After starting your studs (typically players ranked after week 5 in the top ~15 RBs, top ~ 10 WRs, top ~ 10 QBs, top ~3 TEs, top ~5
Defenses, and top...wait, no kicker is a fantasy football stud), the Docs will help you decide who to start and sit as we recommend
players in our fantasy football start sit column that are not clear studs and can step in with a big game for your team this week. Consequently, we will not
recommend who to start and sit with the top few players at each position in our weekly fantasy football start sit advice (given starts every week); however, we may occasionally recommend players ranked
15 - 25 overall due to some teams out there that will have multiple players at one position in this range but can only
start one. If we recommend such a player it does not mean we think they are not a stud, we are just trying to help those folks out there that may
be in such a situation. We also recommend players to bench, so our fantasy football start sit column is sometimes referred to as fantasy football start bench column. Additionally, we offer
Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings to help even further with some of those more difficult
start sit decisions. Last, be sure to check us out every Tuesday as we do a Wrap-up on our advice - both good
and bad. In fact, every wrap-up is kept and posted as a permanent, public record of what we called and how good or bad the calls were.
Why?
Three reasons:
1. Accountability.
2. Confidence in our analysis and recommendations.
3. Because the Docs take winning every bit as seriously as you do.

Give 'em the rock (a.k.a. Start)
Philip Rivers, QB, SD - Rivers has been a huge disappointment this season, but he has started to heat up in recent weeks. Both Rivers and the Chargers seem to wait to get their groove. This year is no different. Rivers should be in a shootout with the Lions in Week 16. Get Rivers in there if you own him.
Tim Tebow, QB, DEN - He did lose to Brady, but you still start him in leagues that award more points for rushing yards and TDs. He is a fantasy machine.
Matt Moore, QB, MIA - Moore has been on tear the second half of this season. He had a down week against the reenergized Eagles defense, but he played very well in his other match-ups. Moore has a great fantasy match-up against the Patriots. New England appears to have forgotten how to play pass defense at all, so this means great things for Moore in Week 16.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, BUF - Fitzpatrick has been showing some life lately, and this week he could continue that trend against a Broncos D that has continued to get nicked up. Don't bench a stud for Fitzpatrick, but he could get you through this week in a pinch. Don't look for Aaron Rodgers-type numbers, but a decent outing is well within Fitzpatrick's reach in Week 16.
Michael Bush, RB, OAK - Other than a terrible week 13, Bush has been very reliable. The Chiefs are an easy target in Week 16. The Chiefs allowed 66 yards rushing to Ryan Grant. That isn't too shabby because the Packers don't run the ball at all. Before that, the Chiefs allowed 129 yards to Shonn Greene. Bush should be good for a solid effort this week.
Felix Jones, RB, DAL - Jones has a good match-up against the Eagles this week. The Eagles have bee susceptible to the run all season long. This week should be no exception. Feel confident starting Jones in Week 16.
C.J. Spiller, RB, BUF - Spiller finally broke out last week in a huge way. He won't reproduce last week's stats, but Spiller should have another big week. The team has little choice, but to see what Spiller can do with the opportunity. Spiller has always had the talent. Now he has the chance to shine.
De Angelo Williams, RB, CAR - If you are in a pinch for a flex RB, Williams should be a good choice for solid production in Week 16. The Bucs are a terrible defense against the run. Combine that with the increased level of play that has been coming out of Williams, and you have a combination that could make you very happy this week.
Demaryius Thomas, WR, DEN - Thomas could flop out on you, but Tebow is locking in on this guy. Get Thomas in there this week for another big week.
A.J. Green, WR, CIN - Green has been one of the best rookies this year. He is a little banged up, but he should be able to play this week. If he does play, he will be a nice start against Arizona. Green has proven he has world class talent that a few bumps and bruises cannot contain.
Let 'em warm up the pine (a.k.a. Sit)
Brandon Lloyd, WR, STL - The Steelers are going to be in a bad mood this week and that means that Saint Louis WRs are in for a tough day. Lloyd will have a bad day, so you should leave him on your bench. The Steelers are the worst team for your fantasy WRs to face.
Pierre Garcon, WR, IND - The Colts have started to show some signs of life with their first win of 2011. However, this is just a mirage. You cannot trust your season to any Colts WR. Look for someone else this week if you can. The Texans should rebound after a disappointing Week 15.
Peyton Hillis, RB, CLE - We aren't buying on Hillis. He has been bad all season and this week he will face a Baltimore team that is looking to blow off some steam. Only 2 teams are tougher for your fantasy RB to face. When you add it all up, Hillis is not a good option for Week 16.
Ryan Grant, RB, GB - The Packers just don't run the ball enough to trust Grant. The Packers will look to get things back on track in Week 16. The best way to do that is to get the ball in Aaron Rodgers' hands. Grant will make a nice blocker.
Seneca Wallace, QB, CLE - Again, you should stay far away from Browns this week with the Steelers on the agenda. Wallace had a very nice game last week, but this will will be a different story.
